skin care gone wrong

We’ve all been there. There’s practically a whole drug store’s worth of skincare products lining your bathroom countertop, shelves, and even your shower. But none of them seem to be having any effect on your skin condition, whether you’re looking to correct dry, oily, or blemished skin. So what’s the deal? Surely one of these products should be doing the trick, right? Well as it turns out, your skincare habits may be to blame. If you’re craving that freshly cleaned, smooth feeling but you’re just not quite achieving it, one (or more!) of the following issues may be holding you back from looking your best.

1. Your skin is still dirty, even if you’ve just cleansed it.

You may have just applied your favorite cleanser, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that your face is clean. If you’re using your hands to apply your face wash, chances are that it’s not actually penetrating deeply enough to really get all the dirt, grime, and makeup out of your pores. This can leave your skin still feeling dirty and dull, even right after you’ve cleansed it. For a deeper, more thorough clean, you might want to try using a spin brush that’s been specifically designed to penetrate the skin, while also being gentle enough to not damage the protective outer layer.

Our PureSpin brush may be just the tool you need to make sure your skin is actually getting the most from your facial cleanser. It works by gently micro-massaging your skin to remove all the dirt, oil, and makeup that may be trapped in your pores that your hands just aren’t able to remove. Then, once it has a clean, fresh surface to work with, your cleanser can fully do its job by penetrating hard-to-reach pores and delivering all the benefits of its skin cleansing ingredients.

2. Your products don’t contain ingredients that actually work.

Speaking of ingredients, how can you be sure that the ones in your skin care products are actually working? Knowing the right ingredients to look for in your products is the first step to achieving that smooth, bright glow you’re after. For many people, uneven skin tone, age spots, wrinkles, and blemishes are unwanted skin conditions that can be hard to treat. But by keeping a few powerful tools in your arsenal of products, you’ll find that such conditions can actually be quite simple to get rid of.

You’ve heard of superfoods, right? Well what makes superfoods so super is that they are often very rich in antioxidants, which prevent the oxidation of other molecules in the body. Because oxidation can cause cell damage, we don’t want it overly occurring in our bodies. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant that can act as a sort of superfood for your skin. It works by stimulating your skin’s natural ability to repair itself, as well as preventing further damage from developing. That’s why resveratrol is one of the main active ingredients in our Skin Brightening and Lightening Formula, which can help prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and sun damage. So if you’re not using a product like this that can actually work to prevent damage before it happens, your skincare routine isn’t nearly as effective as it could be.

3. You store your products in the shower.

If you’re like most of us, it’s very likely that at least some of your skin care products are currently sitting on a shelf or ledge in your shower. While this may be the most convenient place to store your products, it’s far from the cleanest. The heat and moisture from your hot shower can actually make your skincare products an ideal home for all sorts of bacteria to grow (ew!). Not to mention, all that humidity can negatively affect the potency of the antioxidants in your products that should be helping your skin. Our advice? Store your products in a cooler, drier place to make sure you’re getting the most out of them.

4. You don’t use sun protection.

Let’s face it, we’ve all probably had those summers when we’ve spent way too much time out in the sun, throwing care to the wind when it comes to sun protection. But newsflash: that simply isn’t cool. Although you may not see the effects of sun damage to your skin right away, know that it is happening every time you spend time outdoors. And that means on cloudy or rainy days, too. Believe it or not, clouds aren’t very effective at all at blocking harmful UV rays, and some experts suggest that clouds might even enhance the effects of UV rays rather than diminish them. So if you want to prevent wrinkles and uneven skin tone, make sure you’re not skipping the sunscreen.

5. You don’t exfoliate. Ever.

Okay, lots of us are probably guilty of this, at least on some level. But the truth of the matter is that if you’re not ever exfoliating your skin, your skin care products, no matter how great they may be, just won’t be able to do their job. When you exfoliate, you’re getting rid of all the dead skin cells that have built up over top of the new layer of skin underneath. So when you apply your skin care products, they’re not actually reaching that fresh skin underneath.
