6 Ways to Get the Most from Your Spin for Perfect Skin

Posted by Vanity Planet on May 2, 2016 9:00:00 AM
The Spin for Perfect Skin is among our most popular products, and for good reason: with four brush heads that can exfoliate and cleanse the skin, it’s an at-home device than can pamper the skin as well as a spa treatment. We want for our customers to be as happy as possible (with our clients as well as in life), which is why we want to share 6 simple ways that you can get the most out of your Spin for Perfect Skin. (As for the rest of your life, well, that’s up to you).

1.)    Rinse your skin before using each of the brush heads. The Spin for Perfect Skin was designed to offer a more thorough exfoliation than any loofah, sponge, or cleansing mitt could offer. It also won’t break the bank, as a reasonably-priced alternative to costly spa and salon treatments. However, that doesn’t mean you should ask your Spin for Perfect Skin to work through every layer of dirt and makeup that’s on your skin. If you repeatedly use the Spin for Perfect Skin without wiping away your makeup or other skincare product residue, you will likely discolor your brush heads and perhaps even make the brush heads become a little worn-out or smelly (due to the fusion of different perfumes and fragrances from your topical products).

So we recommend gently wiping away makeup, sweat, and any other build-up so that your Spin for Perfect Skin doesn’t have to waste time sorting through layers of superficial and easily-removed debris, and instead can do the job of deep-cleansing your pores and removing hardened skin cells.

2.)    Use the heads only on the designated parts. We’ve been there – a stubborn acne lesion just won’t go away, no matter how frequently we dose it with anti-acne products, and scrubbing it vigorously with a cleansing brush or exfoliating puff seems like the only viable option. But just because a stubborn pimple or callus won’t go away doesn’t mean that you can use an ultra-abrasive brush head on it and expect good results. We calibrated the brush heads of the Spin for Perfect Skin to match the skin on different parts of the body and to be used for a specific duration of time; using a brush head on a non-designated body part may end up irritating the skin and even damaging it.

The gentle bristles of the Cleansing Brush and Body Brush were meant to be used on the face and body, respectively, whereas the Exfoliating Brush is best used on the face. The Pumice Stone head’s smooth surface may seem soothing, yet it’s capable of deep exfoliation and is only suited for callused areas such as the feet. Using it elsewhere on the body is not recommended.

3.)    Keep the brush flush against your skin. If you’re anything like us, you want to have the best skin possible. Which means, sometimes, you may be a little too zealous when you cleanse the skin. (Trust us, we’ve been there!) However, by gliding the Spin for Perfect Skin across the skin and rubbing in a circular motion, you can offer your skin a comprehensive cleansing that cannot be matched by using  a cleansing mitt, loofah, or similar tool. Pressing the brush too forcefully against the skin may cause irritation. Simply hold the brush flush against the skin, and your skin will experience the desired effects: beautiful, glowing, ultra-clean skin! If you notice that the brush is not performing to your liking, then it is probably time to replace your brush heads.

4.)    Pair the Spin for Perfect Skin with gentle ingredients. We designed the Spin for Perfect Skin to be used with the best cleansers -- or alone. In fact, the Spin for Perfect Skin was designed in such a way that it can purify and exfoliate the skin without the need for additional serums and scrubs. But then again, we want the best skin possible, so we recommend pairing the Spin for Perfect Skin with gentle cleansing and exfoliating ingredients. In order to keep the number of beneficial ingredients to a minimum, we suggest using those ingredients which possess both cleansing and exfoliating powers.

If you’re looking for the perfect combination of cleansing and exfoliating, then it’s hard to beat salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is among dermatology’s strongest exfoliating ingredients, with its ability to break apart intercellular bonds between hardened skin cells (British Journal of Dermatology).

Glycolic acid cleanses the skin by both exfoliating away old, hardened skin cells and encouraging the renewal skin (BioMed Research International, Journal of Dermatology, International Journal of Dermatology). When applied topically, glycolic acid can improve the appearance of age spots, skin roughness, photo-damage, and other discolorations as well (Archives of Dermatology).

Lactic acid is a surprisingly powerful yet gentle cleansing ingredient. When applied for several months, it has been suggested that lactic acid demonstrates noteworthy antibacterial activity and can reduce future acne outbreaks (Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology). Lactic acid is also believed to treat age spots and skin roughness (Archives of Dermatology, International Dermal Institute).

So, when in doubt, we recommend using salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or lactic acid -- or any other gentle cleanser with your Spin for Perfect Skin!

5.)    Don’t leave the Spin for Perfect Skin submerged in water. Most of our brushes can be used in water, and the Spin for Perfect Skin is no exception. In fact, the brush heads with Spin for Perfect Skin work best when they are paired with a gentle cleanser or exfoliating serum and applied to damp skin, since moist skin is slightly more pliable and easier to treat than dry skin.

The thing is, you should not leave the brush submerged in water for any period of time. The Spin for Perfect Skin is water-resistant and can be used in the shower, but is not waterproof and will not function properly if it's accidentally left in a full bath tub for even a few minutes.

6.)    Make use of the Vanity Planet Subscribe & Save Program.  Nope, this isn’t a big sales pitch. (OK, maybe it’s a little sales pitch, but it’s also useful info, so please, read on!)
